General Affairs and Human Resources Ms. S (Sendai Head Office)
Ms. S

Please tell us the details of the work you are involved in.

Performs general affairs and human resources duties in cooperation with department members. In addition, you may perform administrative procedures, guide meetings, check documents, etc. to support technical departments. I’m the only person in charge of office work at the Sendai head office, so in a sense I’ve become a jack-of-all-trades (lol). Basically, I work alone at the Sendai head office, and I’m often asked, “Aren’t you lonely?”, but I don’t really feel lonely at all. My motivation increases when I hear from employees, “Thank you,” and “Thank you for being there when I was in trouble.”

Is there anything you keep in mind when working?

Since I work in general affairs and human resources, I have a strong impression that I do the same work over and over again every month, but since I often deal with personal information and contract-related matters, I try to make sure my work is error-free. Additionally, since our Sendai head office and Yokohama office are located far apart, we are careful to visualize our work and communicate information.

Please tell us how you balance work and family, and how you spend your off time.

We have a flextime system, so I’m really grateful that I can adjust my work time to suit my children’s errands, etc. Also, both my team members and my boss are very understanding, so they don’t even show me any displeasure when I suddenly have to change my schedule, so when I’m at work, I try to do my best for the company. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, so it’s easy to make private plans. I don’t get enough exercise on a daily basis, so I would like to get some exercise on the weekends, and I’m in an environment where I can do so, but I haven’t been able to do so. I would like to put this into practice by walking around Tohoku University’s new Aobayama campus during my lunch break.
